Strawberry Jalapeno Salsa
This strawberry jalapeno salsa combines juicy strawberries, spicy jalapeรฑo, creamy avocado, fresh herbs, and pungent red onion to create a balanced condiment to compliment grilled chicken or salmon, fish tacos, salads and beyond. It is versatile and delicious and the perfect combination of sweet and savory!

My thoughts on this recipe:
- Iย knowย strawberries in salsa may seem a little unconventional but you truly have to trust me when I say,ย it works.ย
- Fruit salsa like mango salsa, pineapple salsa or this strawberry jalapeno salsa pair perfectly with nearly any protein- grilled salmon, shrimp, chicken, pork, beef, or plant-based proteins like black beans or tofu. I also love it in fish tacos, piled high on tostadas, scooped up on crispy tortilla chips or enjoyed in an even sweeter way with some cinnamon chips.
- This recipe is customizable and you can adjust the overall flavor balance by adding a drizzle of honey or agave for more sweetness, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, lime zest or lemon juice for more acidity, salt for overall flavor, or more jalapeรฑo or serrano peppers for spice.

What you will need to make this spicy strawberry salsa:
Strawberries: is there anything better than fresh strawberries in strawberry season!? We participate in a summer CSA box that has the best strawberries, you can also find great ones at the farmerโs market or grocery store. This is a great way to use summer strawberries.
Jalapeรฑo: jalapeรฑo peppers offer a little heat but are not TOO spicy. Serrano peppers or Fresno chiles would also work.
Red onion: itโs almost illegal to have a fresh pico de gallo style of salsa without finely diced red onion.
Avocado: avocado is creamy and higher in fat, making it the perfect contrast to the sweet strawberries, spicy peppers and pungent red onion.
Lime: lime juice provides brightness and acidity, I recommend using a real lime but the bottled kind will work in a pinch!
Cilantro: cilantro is a perfect addition to any salsa. If you are a cilantro hater, Iโd recommend using fresh basil.
Salt and pepper: salt simply lifts and enhances all of the beautiful flavors we have going on in this salsa.
You can find all of these simple ingredients at regular grocery stores.

How to make it:
Give the avocado cubes a spritz of lime juice and toss to coat. Combine all salsa ingredients in a medium bowl and toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Easy peasy!
What to serve with this sweet salsa:
- Fish tacos
- Grilled chicken
- Grilled shrimp
- Roasted or grilled salmon
- Chipotle salmon rice bowls
- Crostini
- Tostadas
- Taco salad
- Tortilla chips

FAQs:
Mango, pineapple, peaches or nectarines all work beautifully.
If you can, Iโd recommend leaving the avocado out until just before serving. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3ย days.
